The Third Coast

This website is a celebration of the food found along the Gulf Coast, the "third coast" of the United States.  The Gulf Coast is a mere 1,200 miles, but the diversity of food and culture is enormous.  There's Tex-Mex and Barbecue, Cajun and Creole, Deep South, Cuban, Dominican, Haitian, and so many others.  New Orleans, my hometown and favorite city in the world, is the Queen of the Gulf Coast and is truly a melting pot.  Vietnamese pho is as New Orleans as gumbo.  The first Greek Orthodox Church in America and the first Filipino settlement in America are both in the New Orleans area.  The next time you eat oysters in New Orleans, know that they were likely harvested by Croatian immigrants and their descendants.

If that's not enough to be excited about, every recipe on this website happens to be gluten-free.
